Tune-In Tuesday - The Return: And Now I'm Poor
First, the debut album by Carley Rae Jepson, singer of "Call Me Maybe" THE most infectious pop song in like... forever! (Although those One Direction guys gave her a run for her money.) Her follow-up, "Good Time" with Owl City is damn near close! One of those rare artists that can score two "songs of the summer" in the same summer. (Kinda like... well, we'll get to that...)
The new album by P!nk, the baddest bitch in pop music. I don't think she gets enough credit. "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" is poppy and radio-friendly, but this lady has depth and one of the most soulful voices around. Done! (Also both these albums are available at target with four extra songs a piece!)
Finally, speaking of having two songs of the summer, this artists is practically synonymous with that expression...
Katy Perry's behind-the-scenes documentary Part of Me also came out today. I saw it in theaters and it was VERY good. It's surprisingly emotional, because she doesn't hold anything back and you really get a look at her struggle to get where she is and... well, of course you get to see the breakdown of her marriage to Russell Brand, who is tellingly absent from most of the film. The drama is punctuated with live performances from her "California Dreams" tour which lasted roughly a year and took her all over the world. Definitely two thumbs up!
Here's the trailer:
Rewatching it, I just realized that they guy dancers' pants are totally designed to draw attention to their butts. And the dancer in teal is totally hot.

Tune In Tuesday: Rock of Ages
Well... we liked it! The reviews are tepid at best and it took in a disappointing $14 million, but we enjoyed it! I hate Tom Cruise and his singing voice is kind of odd, but he did a great job in the role of Stacee Jaxx, a thinly-veiled Axl Rose-type rocker that is so sheltered he's lost touch with reality. I was surprised that Stacee Jaxx was more of a supporting character. Julianne Hough and Diego Boneta are the real stars as dewy, fresh faced Sherrie and aspiring rocker Drew. They're an attractive couple. Diego, obviously was especially appealling to me.
Julianne's voice isn't the best at times. "Sister Christian" is borderline shrill. But the rest of the cast delivers some pretty tight vocals, considering most of them aren't singers. the exception is Mary J. Blige, who has a fairly small role, but she KILLS every line she sings! She seems tailor made for rock music. I would love her to do a whole album with a rock vibe! The best two musical numbers are the ones in Mary's strip club, where no one ever actually strips.
The plot isn't particularly fresh or... hell even that important. When I read the negative comments, I kind of shrug and admit I can't disagree with what they're saying. I just don't care. There are flaws, but it's just so much FUN! Great songs, fun choreography, just a fun, entertaining movie! I'm definitely buying the BluRay when it comes out!

MANic/Tune In Tuesday
This is going to a strange one! I saw this kid on TV and was astonished to learn... well, first of all that he was in fact, 20 years old. I mean look at him! He looks more like 12!
He's a country artist, so I can't say I LOVE his music. It's more along that poppy side of country so it's okay. But what I found surprising is that he plays over 30 instruments, played every instrument on his album, co-wrote and co-produced the entire thing! That's mind-boggling!
Plus, he's way cuter than The Biebs, so that should help him out.
So, y'know, check it out. Not my favorite style of music, but I'm still impressed by his ability!Tuesday, June 28, 2011
Tune In Tuesday - Divergent
Today, I will be recommending the book Divergent by Veronica Roth. Here is Harper Collins' summary:In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.
During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.
Okay, so... it's basically a Hunger Games knock-off. It's VERY Hunger Games. And Beatrice is VERY Katniss. Kinda plain, introverted and conflicted. This is set a little bit closer to our own time, as they still remember our society somewhat and most of the decimated Chicago landmarks are still called by their current names. And the characters act more like modern-day teenagers, sarcasm and all, and some of the factions live in conditions very similar to our own.
It's less violent... well, kinda. There's less killing, but the descriptions of the brutal initiation process are more graphic, so it kinda balances out at about the same level of violence as HG.
It's actually a little more... girlie. Unlike Hunger Games where everyone is out to kill everyone else because only one can survive, there's hope for multiple people to make it through, so Beatrice is able to form friendships, most notably with her sassy black BFF Christina. When is adding a sassy black BFF into a storyline ever a bad idea?! And there's more romance. And more than one "trying on clothes" montage. I've seriously never READ a trying on clothes montage, and here I've read TWO! And the main romantic subplot just had me squealing! I found myself mentally screaming "KISS!!!" several times!
The pacing is slightly different than Hunger Games where the first third of the book is set-up and then they jump RIGHT to the killing. In Divergent, things move a little slower and the shit doesn't hit the fan until the very end. And then it kinda ends in a cliffhanger, but I knew that was coming, so I was okay. There was one thing that happened at the end that upset me, maybe not because it actually happened, but that it was just so quick and tossed aside, like moving on... But, y'know, I don't want to spoil anything. (Let's talk after YOU'VE read it!)
I got about a third of the way into the book, which was well-written, but I was a bit conflicted because the writing style was so similar to Suzanne Collins' (and I wondered if that was deliberate or not) and the character of Beatrice had such a close "voice" to Katniss. It was one of those "I can't tell if I like this or not" things, but then it kept picking up momentum and the story kept getting more and more interesting and the relationships between the characters developed and the romantic angles kicked in and it kept getting harder and harder to put it down every time I had to stop reading! By the end, I just stayed up late and finished it up because I HAD to find out what happened!
So, if you liked The Hunger Games series, give this a shot, but know going in that it's basically a knock off. But if you can get past that (at least it's a knock off of a GREAT series, and not, like Twilight, right?), you may enjoy it just as well. Well, maybe not JUST as well, but I'm definitely on board for the follow-up books! Whenever those arrive...

First of all, Happy Birthday to Donna Troy, Wonder Woman's younger sister/magical avatar/adopted younger sister she rescued as an infant from a fire/whatever the fuck she is this week! And while not the latest, certainly the greatest Wonder Girl! (In the 1978 DC Comics Calendar, they actually gave each hero a birthday!) I've been obsessed with Donna since I first learned of her existence... Wonder Woman has a sidekick too?!... and her depiction in New Teen Titans won me over for life! Too bad she'd one of the most fucked over characters in comics (had her origin completely scrapped and redone, then undone again, lost her husband and infant son, DIED, came back to life, has been forced to star in shitty books...But... I still luv ya, baby!
So today saw the release of "Til The World Ends (The Femme Fatale Remix)" by Britney Spears featuring Nicki Minaj and Ke$ha. The hell?! This is the second week in a row that Brit Brit's been involved in a fairly nonsensical collaborative remix, after last week's "S&M" remix with Rihanna. I'm getting tired of getting a rapper to spit a rhyme on your album track and calling it a remix for the single release. Why can't you just get the rap on the album version to start with? Then, in a reversal, just as Britney simply re-sang Rihanna's second verse and chorus on "S&M," Ke$ha just re-sings the bridge on "Til The World Ends." She doesn't really add anything! Anyway... see for yourself:Once again, Britney's album just came out a couple of weeks ago! You're telling me this couldn't have been arranged before that?
I can see the "remix" being necessary for Katy Perry's "E.T." because that's the fourth single from that album, which came out last summer/fall. PS, did you catch her and Kanye on American Idol? (See yesterday's blog. I DO NOT WATCH American Idol willingly!)
At least, every so often someone talented pops up on it.
Anyway, not much else going on, so I'm leaving it at that!

WTFriday?! - Say What, Australians?!
WTF?! Thor and "Fast Five" (Is that the real title?!) opened opposite each other in Australia and Fast Five WON! Who the fuck even likes those stupid movies? I've never even seen ONE of them! I mean, all you gotta say is "starring Paul Walker" and I'm like, "Oh, this is my stop. Lemme off this thing." And throw Vin Diesel and The Rock in the mix it's like they're TRYING to put together the least appealing cast since The Expendables. Well, I've heard Australia referred to as "the Alabama of the world," so maybe that explains it.
So... what does this mean? Fans are geeked up over Thor, but... is it just us? Has the rest of society moved on from the comic book movie genre? But... how? How could they move on from the comic book genre and not the racing cars movie?
And Chris Hemsworth is AUSTRALIAN! I am just stunned and outraged and HOPING that this isn't a sign of things to come! Also, I wanted to post this on Tuesday, but I forgot, but Tune In to, Glee Presents The Warblers!
The Warblers are my favorite part of Glee as far as music. (I don't care for Kurt being one of them and generally, none of them has a personality.) But they do REAL show choir music with the beat-boxing and harmonizing and all that jazz that makes their music sound so cool and not just like carbon copies of the original versions of those songs. That's what people loved so much about "Don't Stop Believin'" on the first episode, is that the cast were making the "music" vocally (some of it anyway), but when they're just singing the lyrics over real instruments and it sounds just the same as the original, what's the point?
But I'm glad Kurt is returning to McKinley next week. It was kind of stupid having him at a completely different school and therefore making him inaccessible to the main plots and his own plots irrelevant to the rest of the episodes. I'd say they should do a Warbler's spin-off, but like I said, they're kinda boring. They're have to switch things up, I think, in order to make it work. Do they even have names? I just call them black guy with fro, tall blond guy, fat guy, Asian leader guy, black assistant leader guy...I don't know the context for this performance of "Somewhere Only We Know" from next week's episode, but it makes me sad!
Wow, what are the odds of a full orchestra just sitting there with their instruments?! That's crazy! And HOW MUCH DO I LOVE FINN AND KURT BEING BROTHERS?!?! SO SWEET!!!
Also included on The Warbler's album is "What Kind of Fool." I don't know this song, but I love their version.
And "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?"
And just for the hell of it, he's an encore of "Teenage Dream" the TOP selling Glee song ever!

Tune In Tuesday - I'ma Get My Dance On
I was kinda meh about "Born This Way." I liked it, but it was underwhelming, coming from the artist that gave us "Poker Face" and "Paparazzi" and "Bad Romance." And usually, the lead single from an album is like the BEST song on it, so that was kind of a red flag. But "Judas" is a complete BANGER!!! It ROCKS!!! This should have been the lead single, I think! It leaked last week, so the label rushed it out on iTunes. It's AMAZING!
Next up, they remixed Rihanna's "S&M" making it a duet with Britney Spears. I liked the Rihanna version just fine, but I like the duet version as well. It just seems... off. Like... why, first of all? I'm dying for Rihanna and BFF Katy Perry to do something together, but as far as I know, RiRi and Brit Brit have never even met. It's not like anyone was thinking, "You know who need to do a collaboration? Those two!" Also, the timing is odd. "S&M" was released ages ago (she's already released a follow-up single "California King Bed"). And Ri's album didn't come out that long ago and Brit's album just dropped. They couldn't put this together before that? They could have put it on Brit's album and maybe it would have done better. But, yeah, I still like it. I want to hear it in a club! (And clubbing may very well figure in my near future... hopefully this'll still be popular by then!)
Beth Ditto, the lead singer of The Gossip has released a solo EP of electro pop songs. Her first single is "I Wrote The Book" and was iTunes free song last week. Yeah, I know, great timing asshole. It's great! The video is an homage to Madonna's "Justify My Love."I can't wait for the club mixes! From angry rocker chick to disco diva! She can do it all! The rest of the EP is fun too, very 80s synth pop, a la Depeche Mode. But be warned "I Wrote The Book" is the fastest of the songs. The rest are still worth a listen, though!
Finally, I couldn't NOT buy this shizz!!!Is it mind-blowing? Nah. But it's fucking NKOTBSB, BITCHEZ!!!

Tune In (Or Don't) Tuesday
Way to shit in fandom's collective mouth, NBC! This is from Comic Book Resources:But that isn’t what happened at all. Oh, the network heard the criticism; it just didn’t respond to it. Instead, it kept to the plan, which apparently is for Wonder Woman to wear three costumes: the shiny one that virtually everyone hates, the one we saw in the set pics, and one that will be … slightly more familiar.
“There was an initial outcry about the long pants – you know, skintight pants as opposed to those little shorts [worn by Lynda Carter in the original TV series],” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt tells TVLine. “But the shorts were always planned. They are actually used in the final confrontation when she beats Veronica Cale (played by Elizabeth Hurley). [...] We haven’t made any changes from what was planned. But it’s always good to hear the feedback. I’d rather have people really passionately engaged in conversation, even if they hate something, than be kind of bored.”
So if Wonder Woman makes it to NBC’s fall schedule — “I’ve been doing this long enough to know that nothing is a safe bet,” Greenblatt concedes — fans may end up seeing a version of those star-spangled shorts after all.
David E. Kelley’s pilot is described as a reinvention of the DC Comics superheroine, who’s recast as Diana Themyscira, a successful corporate executive who fights crime as Wonder Woman while trying to balance the elements of her extraordinary life. In addition to Palicki and Hurley, Wonder Woman also stars Justin Breuning as Steve Trevor, Cary Elwes as Henry Detmer, Tracie Thoms as Etta Candy, and Pedro Pascal as Ed Indelicato.
And speaking of THE EXACT SAME THING, after it appeared that they had toned down the muscle tissue look of Green Lantern's costume and adjusted his mask and some other tweaks in the latest trailer, they released this image:
WHAT?! You can see his TOES!!! That makes no sense whatsoever!!! Transparent boots?! It just looks totally shitty! Dammit, DC!!! Why are you doing this to me?!But wait, there's more. I present to you, Batman Live:
Yep, that just fuckin' happened! That's an actual show! Those are REALLY what the costumes look like! Um, Cosplay costumes look better than that!!! TERRIBLE!!! Turn off the dark!!! Oh shit... for real, DC?! (Well, at least unlike Turn Off The Dark, you can recognize the characters and don't have to listen to shitty U2 songs.) The one nice part, at the beginning you get to see an interview with Geoff Johns, THE. HOTTEST. GUY. TO. EVER. WRITE. COMIC. BOOKS. EVER!!!!!!!!Apropos of nothing, but I just wanted to end on an up note, when I list the super heroes that I think are the hottest, Guy Gardner is up there and people are always like, "Guy Gardner?! Why?" That is a logical response, as traditionally, he's been depicted looking like this:
Bad Moe hair cut, sometimes with big ears... which PS, I kinda like on guys... Michael Phelps anyone? Plus, he's probably the biggest asshole among super heroes... however if you know me and my history with men, you know GODDAMN WELL that being an asshole is almost a prerequisite for me liking you! I fall for assholes like I get a commission on them. But just on appearances, Guy isn't always that pleasing to the eye, but all it takes is the right artist and BAM!
Mmmm, gingery! There's a new Guy action figure coming out (click the pic for a bigger image to appreciate the detail):
HAWT!!! FUCKIN' HOT PLASTIC GINGER LOVE MACHINE!!!Can I marry a toy?

Wonder Wednesday (Also Late Tune In Tuesday)
I think I'ma just retire Tune In Tuesday, because as you may or may not know, Tuesday is my Friday, ie the end of my work week. I'm just too damn tired to muster the energy to do this on a Tuesday afternoon. (I'm more concerned with getting to the bottom of a Jim Beam bottle. I think I've decided I'm just going to rock my alcoholism as a Badge of Honor at this point. It worked for the Rat Pack!) Anyhoo... Britney Spears put out a new album and I bought it... it was like a weird reflex action! It was like Britney?! BUY!!! "Hold It Against Me," was a universally panned and her second single "Till The World Ends" is EXCRUCIATINGLY mediocre... I mean didn't Jay Sean JUST put out an almost identical song, "2011 (The End Of The World)?" The whole deal is mediocre. I saw her on Jimmy Kimmel and I think she even stopped wearing a microphone when she performs! (I think. I was pretty drunk at the time.) It's like, "I'm Britney, bitch! I don't really sing!" She's just rubbing our faces in it now! WHY CAN'T I QUIT YOU?!?!
I fully intend on seeing Super this Friday. Anyone else want in?
RED BOOTS MUTHAFUCKA!!! Look what a bunch of angry, miserable, anonymous bloggers can accomplish! Not only did they swap out those ridiculous plastic pants, but they switched off to the classic red boots! I'm still not in love with this look... I still think she needs some kind of straps for the bodice, but it looks a gajillion times better than that first image! The bracelets alone look MUCH better in actual metallic silver, although the gold still looks a tad muddled.
Yeah, her forehead mole is evident, but god dammit, LEAVE WONDER WOMAN ALONE!!! I refuse to jump on the misogynist bandwagon of people judging her physical appearance. She's a lovely girl! If I must find fault, it is that she's a lovely girl. She still looks a tad young to be Wonder Woman, but I once again, do not think this show will make or break based on her.

In this pic, she kinda looks like Julia Stiles and I DARE you to find fault with Julia Stiles! I'm getting more and more on-board! Wurq it, WW!

Tune In Tuesday - Belated Edition
But anyway, I am delighted to report that Syfy has renewed Being Human for a second series. I LOVE this show! It's so well done and you just get wrapped up in the characters! I didn't quite buy the events of this last episode with the werewolf "dog fight," but the stories are developing nicely and I thoroughly look forward to each new episode, which is rare.
Also renewed is the Little Cop Show That Could, Southland. I have NO idea how I got wrapped up in this show. I never watch cop shows. I think I just started watching because Ben McKenzie was on it. (Yum!... then again, the whole cast is attractive. It's like a CW teen drama for grown-ups!) Once again, the stories are very engaging. Things really came to a head in this past season finale. I was really thrown when probably the most sympathetic and likable character was shockingly killed off this past season, which just goes to show that the producers are willing to keep you on your toes and to take risks. This show started off on NBC but was cancelled. TNT picked it up and I'm glad it's working out, because it's a really good show.
So yeah, just a couple of plugs for shows I like!

Tune OUT Tuesday
Yeah, I almost hesitate to even write this, because it's going to come across as one of the most mean-spirited posts I've ever written, but I'm a blogger and we're all shitty mean assholes. But okay, so out today on DVD and BluRay, Burlesque. Show of hands... does anyone like Christina Aguilera? Yeah, didn't think so. I mean, don't get me wrong! I'm not talking about her talent at all. She has a phenomenal voice! She has an amazing range, but it's not as pristine and overdone as Mariah Carey's. Christina has a nice rasp in her voice and I totally LOVE a lot of her songs. So I'm not talking about that exactly, but does anyone like HER. As a person? See.I mean, from the very beginning, back when she was a Genie In A Bottle wanting us to rub her the right way, word got out reeeeeeaaaaal quick about what a bitch she was. And don't give me any of that "why is it a woman can't be assertive and express her opinions without being called a bitch?" If I call a woman a bitch, it's the same thing as calling a man an asshole and sometimes a woman is just a bitch, so don't try and use feminism to make yourself the victim here! Being assertive and expressing your opinion doesn't make you a bitch. See Lady Gaga. Or Katy Perry. Or Beyonce. Being sour, humorless, rude and disrespectful does. Maybe if I just starting using asshole as a unisex term that would avoid the whole argument.
She was so desperate to not be part of the whole teen pop boom of the time. Every article I read about her, she went out of her way to talk about how edgy she was and how different she was from the other acts that were big at the time. Like in one she made a point to talk about how she had blue and red streaks in her hair in the "Come On Over" video. Yeah, that's pretty badass. Wait... no it's not.
Then she did that thing that I just HATE where she completely dissed her first album as being too poppy and not representative of her as an artist and just plain bad. Oh really? So what are you saying about the MILLIONS of fans who liked it and bought it and made you rich and famous off of it? That they're a bunch of knuckle-dragging morons?
(This is the real douchey part, on my end.) And she's a NATURALLY beautiful woman, but she does everything she can to make herself unappealing! Her hair is a disaster. It makes my scalp burn just looking at that horrific flat, one-note bleach job! Fake blonde can be done right, but it needs to be a color that occurs in nature and have some highlights AND lowlights and depth and tone! Her hair always just looks fried. Like if it could scream, it totally would and it would hit a higher note than her voice ever has. She's always crazy Snooki tan. (That doesn't look good, every girl in Anderson!) She wears too much makeup and it always looks like shit, the hooker red lips, the tarantula mascaraed eyelashes and... whatever she puts on her face that makes it look like she's always moist and sticky.I WILL say this! She's taken some heat for gaining weight, but considering she was always such a twig, she could use a few extra pounds and it's not like she's Aretha Franklin or anything! If she gets a lot heavier, it could be a problem, but as of right now, I don't think there's anything wrong with it.
But then there's her behavior. She was so desperate to be a bad girl, she started hanging out with Paris Hilton and partying like Tommy Lee. Britney Spears once said that she ran into her at a club after not seeing her in years and the first thing she did was try ramming her tongue down Brit's throat. Recently, she crashed Jeremy Renner's birthday party at his house and got so trashed she passed out in his bed! His reaction, "Who does that?!"
This comes after a lot of career setbacks. Her Bionic album was panned across the board and flopped. Subsequently, she scrapped plans to tour. Then Burlesque was also savaged by critics and bombed at the box office (to be fair, audience reaction was considerably higher). Then she flubbed the lyrics to the Star Spangled Banner at the Super Bowl and was raked over the coals for it.
So... yeah, I mean the talent is there. She has made a number of excellent singles. But she's just soooooo unlikeable in so many other ways! It makes it hard to root for you, if you're a totally out-of-control
REEEEEEEEEEEE-MIX! Guess who got arrested last night! Xtina and her bf! Bf for DUI WITH Xtina in the car, her for public intoxication. Apparently, she was completely out of it and unable to take care of herself. SAD!!! Get yo'self together, girl! Too much talent to piss away like that!

Tune-In Tuesday - That Butch Queen Just Don't Stop!
That was (half of) a performance by new artist Miss Lawrence, best... only known as one of the gay sidekicks on The Real Housewives of HOTlanta. Guuuuurrrrrrl, that was one sad vogue, bb! But the track, now on iTunes is actually pretty hot! We got another "Tardy For The Party" on our hands, ya'll!
Here is the full-length song:That butch queen just don't stop!
That butch queen just don't stop!
That butch queen just don't stop!
That butch queen just don't stop!

Tune In Tuesday - Scooby Doo Mysteries Inc.
Also, I mentioned this to Cathy yesterday, but while I have no problem with the word "fuck" I do have a problem with Enrique Iglesias' song "Tonight I'm Fucking You." It's just... too much. Line crossed. It's just... CRASS. Ugh.
So besides Secretariat, not a whole lot came out on DVD today. I did get Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. Volume One. Animated TV shows on DVD don't sell well, apparently, so most companies have moved away from doing full season boxed sets to just doing smaller, cheaper discs with just a couple of episodes on them. Lame. This one only has the first four episodes, but the episodes I've seen are all jumbled up, so I wanted to watch it from the beginning in order.
If you haven't seen it, it a re-interpretation of the classic Scooby Doo, not a continuation like other recent series like What's New Scooby Doo?. The gang are back in high school. Velma and Shaggy are dating in this version and Fred and Daphne are not (at least not in the beginning), which took some getting used to. It's set in the present, but they still dress the same and ride around in the Mystery Machine. The art style is somewhat stylized from the original. And they don't live in Coolsville anymore, it's now Crystal Cove. Which isn't a bad thing. Crystal Cove is one of the most realized settings in any cartoon I've seen. It's a presumably New England, waterfront community known for its famous hauntings and supernatural occurrences. The fact that Scooby and the gang make it their mission to debunk these situations actually angers the adults in the town including Fred's dad, the mayor and Velma's parents who conduct "haunted tours" of the area! To them, every exposed villain means money out of their pockets and the town's livelihood shrinking!
Like most Warner Brothers cartoons, it's smartly, sharply written, with loads of winks and nods to Scooby series past, including sneaking characters and monsters from the originals into the backgrounds in scenes, up to a guest appearance by fan-faves The Hex Girls from the 1999 direct-to-video movie Scooby Doo and the Witch's Ghost. Not only that, but they also sneak in cameos by characters from other cartoons. (Apparently, Mystery Inc attend the same high school as the kids from The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan!) Easter eggs for those of us sad enough to have grown up watching such garbage as The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan. And taking a note from more sophisticated series of the present, the episodes can stand alone but there is also a larger overreaching story arc playing out over the course of the season (?) involving the enigmatic benefactor Mr. E and a bygone group of teens that previously called themselves Mystery Inc.
It's all excellently done, smartly written, well acted... grab this one and try it out! It's the good times!
