Tune In (Or Don't) Tuesday

Way to shit in fandom's collective mouth, NBC! This is from Comic Book Resources:
When the first photos of Wonder Woman star Adrianne Palicki emerged from the pilot’s set a couple of weeks ago, it seemed that NBC had reacted to the outcry over the initial publicity still and swapped the shiny vinyl costume for, well, something far less shiny.

But that isn’t what happened at all. Oh, the network heard the criticism; it just didn’t respond to it. Instead, it kept to the plan, which apparently is for Wonder Woman to wear three costumes: the shiny one that virtually everyone hates, the one we saw in the set pics, and one that will be … slightly more familiar.

“There was an initial outcry about the long pants – you know, skintight pants as opposed to those little shorts [worn by Lynda Carter in the original TV series],” NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt tells TVLine. “But the shorts were always planned. They are actually used in the final confrontation when she beats Veronica Cale (played by Elizabeth Hurley). [...] We haven’t made any changes from what was planned. But it’s always good to hear the feedback. I’d rather have people really passionately engaged in conversation, even if they hate something, than be kind of bored.”

So if Wonder Woman makes it to NBC’s fall schedule — “I’ve been doing this long enough to know that nothing is a safe bet,” Greenblatt concedes — fans may end up seeing a version of those star-spangled shorts after all.

David E. Kelley’s pilot is described as a reinvention of the DC Comics superheroine, who’s recast as Diana Themyscira, a successful corporate executive who fights crime as Wonder Woman while trying to balance the elements of her extraordinary life. In addition to Palicki and Hurley, Wonder Woman also stars Justin Breuning as Steve Trevor, Cary Elwes as Henry Detmer, Tracie Thoms as Etta Candy, and Pedro Pascal as Ed Indelicato.

So, after all the relief expressed by fans after it appeared NBC had changed her costume after everyone FUCKING HATED it, turns out, eh, PSYCH! I don't think there was that much outcry over her wearing pants versus shorts, it was that she was wearing ridiculous PLASTIC pants! And blue boots! THAT'S what people hated! Ugh!

And speaking of THE EXACT SAME THING, after it appeared that they had toned down the muscle tissue look of Green Lantern's costume and adjusted his mask and some other tweaks in the latest trailer, they released this image:
WHAT?! You can see his TOES!!! That makes no sense whatsoever!!! Transparent boots?! It just looks totally shitty! Dammit, DC!!! Why are you doing this to me?!

But wait, there's more. I present to you, Batman Live:

Yep, that just fuckin' happened! That's an actual show! Those are REALLY what the costumes look like! Um, Cosplay costumes look better than that!!! TERRIBLE!!! Turn off the dark!!! Oh shit... for real, DC?! (Well, at least unlike Turn Off The Dark, you can recognize the characters and don't have to listen to shitty U2 songs.) The one nice part, at the beginning you get to see an interview with Geoff Johns, THE. HOTTEST. GUY. TO. EVER. WRITE. COMIC. BOOKS. EVER!!!!!!!!

Apropos of nothing, but I just wanted to end on an up note, when I list the super heroes that I think are the hottest, Guy Gardner is up there and people are always like, "Guy Gardner?! Why?" That is a logical response, as traditionally, he's been depicted looking like this:
Bad Moe hair cut, sometimes with big ears... which PS, I kinda like on guys... Michael Phelps anyone? Plus, he's probably the biggest asshole among super heroes... however if you know me and my history with men, you know GODDAMN WELL that being an asshole is almost a prerequisite for me liking you! I fall for assholes like I get a commission on them. But just on appearances, Guy isn't always that pleasing to the eye, but all it takes is the right artist and BAM!Mmmm, gingery! There's a new Guy action figure coming out (click the pic for a bigger image to appreciate the detail):
HAWT!!! FUCKIN' HOT PLASTIC GINGER LOVE MACHINE!!!

Can I marry a toy?
